Rebuilding after extensive fire damage to the facility may be more complex and expensive than the insurance adjuster evaluation. The governmental agencies want to see most of the grandfathered code violations to be brought up to compliance. The Owner wants facility to be of a higher degree fire resistant than it was. In case where the insurance does not cover the cost of complete replacement of the structures in compliance with new codes, the owner has to come up with the difference. It may make more sense to move to the new location.
